Computer for Musician
I want to build a computer for a musician. It will be used to record, mix, and burn CD's. What are some of the "must haves" (hardware & software) that are suggested? Or should I forget about a PC and go to a MAC?

Apparently Macs are more commonly used in recording studios e.t.c. so maybe you should go for one of them... Apparenlty they are more geared for recording and that sort of thing but that pcs are catching up with that technology now. I personally don't have a mac but I was told that info from someone who works at Abbey Road studios so it should be reliable

Yeah I'm not an expert either, but my friends that are in the recording business swear by the program ProTools which is apparently a lot more stable on a Mac than a PC.
It might also depend on what the musician is like. I'm an amateur musician and find plenty to do with my PC, but I write most of my music on the computer, not really by recording anything. Also, when watching one of my friends with his ProTools on his mac, the program crashed three time while I was watching, so sometimes I wonder if the reputation Mac has for being more stable has some sort of unstoppable inertia. Thank you for the replies. I think the MAC may be the way to go.

It might be. I'd compare your Mac choices with your PC choices (mainly in terms of software - PCs can do the same thing as Macs hardware wise for the most part) and see what looks best for your situation.
