Power Hookups

Simple question... I am almost done with my first build, but I am not sure about hook-ups to the power supply. The PSU seems to have an abundance of cables, so I have some flexibility with how I hook things up. Is there any drawback to having two or three drives on the same cable? Should the motherboard have a dedicated cable? Any general info on this topic would help.

In case it matters,

PSU: Antec TruePower 2.0 TRUECONTROL 550W Power Supply

If you're using a IDE hard drive as your main boot drive it's best to let it be on it's own cable by itself. Other than that you can connect multiple drives to one cable if you want to.

There is only one main motherboard power cable so you really don't have a choice. If the motherboard needs the separate 4 pin 12v connector it's usually the only connector on that line anyway so you don't have to worry about that.

my selected motherboard for my first build is quite a doosy. I have chosen an
ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard – Retail $280

could you perhaps lead me to a good power supply for it? You would be a lifesaver!
