first build
Hi, I been looking up some components and i was wondering if this build will be ok.... this computer im trying to build will be mainly use for gaming, multi-tasking, searching, downloads, etc.
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103539 Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130283 Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145440 Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144701 OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16837102059 As for the motherboard i didn't know which to pick. I had 2 in mind and those were http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131530 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131569 . I couldn't tell much of its difference. Can someone help tell me which Motherboard would work for this system? Also, as for the case i didn't really know the power outage that would work with this. I wanted a case with PSU included could someone also help me find out which case/PSU would work well together for this computer? And can someone tell me what else am i missing? I would be using my old mouse, speakers as long as my keyboard and moniter. Thx for the help. O just before i forgot my budget around 600-850 dollars.( can go over) if you guys feel its neccesary to make changes plz do so. Thx once again |

Your list looks good, well done.
The A8N-E and the A8N5X are essentially the same board. The only difference is that the A8N-E has 3Gb/s SATA, while the A8N5X has 1.5Gb/s. And in the real world, you'll never notice a difference. You'll be happy with either one. My suggestion for the case is the Antec Sonata II. It comes with an excellent Antec 450w power supply that would be a good fit for your system. My only change is to try to fit the 3800+ X2 in your budget. The chip is $154 at Newegg, and dual core is the way to go. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103562 |

I wouldn't bother with SLI. Its not worth the cost.
I realize the Sonata II is not flashy, but it is well built and one of the few cases that comes with a good power supply. If you want a different case, feel free to buy anything you like. Just pick up the power supply separate. The Antec 450w is a good choice. I would try to fit in the dual core. Multi-cores let you multitask easier, and more and more applications can take advantage of the multiple cores. With AMD's recent price cuts, that $154 is an excellent deal. |

Yeah, the Sonata II is a good value...
I'd definitely go for the 3800+ X2. Games are starting to, and will continue to, become multi-threading - meaning they can utilize both cores.

Newegg has the ETA on that card as August 4th. I would sit tight, 5 days isn't too long.

Hard to give an exact time, considering each person's needs are different, and who knows how much power games and other programs you use will need in the future. I will say that the 3800+ X2 will give you a lot more time because of the dual cores.

Yeah, you'll need a wireless adapter card. You can do USB adapters, but I think a PCI card is best. What brand router do you have? Usually its best to try and match brands up.

if you went with an intel board you could get the motherboard that I am getting with built in wireless.
it has a remote for on/off also. Price is $230 - $280, a little high but worth it for the expansion. Doesn't really apply, but if there is something that is compatible with amd like that, I think that would be sweet. |

Just go with the main brands, like netgear or linksys. The price of the router depends on how far you need the wifi to reach. I suggest the Netgear Wgt624 as a router and the Netgear Wg311T as the card. Use PCI wireless, not USB.

No need to go wireless if your broadband connection is in the same room as your computer.

yeah, if you can wire a connection - it'll be much cheape and easier. Are you wanting to connect to the internet from a room that doesn't have any network connections?

It's very new. It's still got a lot of bugs and quirks (like memory compatibility issues). There is very little, if any, performance boost for AM2 over 939.

Please tell us where your broadband modem is going to be physically located? Are you using cable or DSL?

Yes.....that's what you want. NOW - which computer is that going to be next to - your new one or your old one? With DSL, you can use any phone jack in the house.
You will need only ONE wireless adapter - I'm trying to determine WHICH computer that needs to be installed in. |

well my room has a phone jack just for DSL cuz there was a problem with my phone line b4 so they made a jack just for DSL. also the place where my old computer going to be should be next to my room and in that room there aren't any phone jack i found. and im hoping that the new router is near my new computer meaning in my room and try to get my old computer to go wireless.
