USB on new computer won't work
I built my first computer a couple of weeks ago and today i decided to update my ipod on it. but after it writes 25-50 songs, i get an error that says
"attempting to copy to the disk "ipod" failed. the disk could not be read or written to" this does not happen on my old computer. i took the ipod into best buy and they said nothing was wrong with it, so i think it is my new computer, maybe the motherboard, but i don't know how to be sure, or how to fix it. any help would be appreciated. this is my system case - antec sonata ii with smart power 2.0 supply motherboard - asus a8n5x cpu - amd athlon 64 3500+ ram - corsair value select ddr 184 pin 512x2 video card - evga nvidia geforce 7600gt hard drive - sata 1.5 seagate barracuda 7200.7 120 gb floppy - sony 1.44 optical - lite-on dvd/cd with burner |

i checked them and they looked fine, but i unplugged them and then plugged them back in anyway, but it still didn't work. so i tried the back usb ports, and they're working just fine. could this be a problem with the usb cables from the front of the case?

That could be possible. make sure they are plugged into the correct spot on the motherboard. Refer to the case manual for extra help.

Probably going to have to send it in if it bothers you that much. Otherwise I would just use the USB ports in the back for uploading songs to your IPOD.
Does the front USB ports work fine with other USB devices like a USB drive, printer, etc.? |

The front ports maybe aren't capable of providing enough power to the Ipod. Mice don't use much power and printers are AC powered. Run an extension cable around from one of the rear ports for the Ipod.

that is most likely the problem. Power is often-times a usb issue. Some people say their ipod doesn't work when plugged into a usb 1.0 drive. But the power seems to be the issue. I am not an ipod user, I am a psp guy myself, but if you plugged the ipod in and dimmed the screen (if you could) it may work because it isn't powering the display.
