recommended mid-tower case?
Title says it all. I am building a gamer pc and need a decent case to rely on. Good ventillation with hopefully a 120mm fan in the back + side window.
((sorry for littering your forums with ""noob"" questions, I am just very cautious)) thx |

Case selection is often about "looks" and the old saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" applies. My personal preference is the Antec brand. Top quality construction with solid materials, an industry leading 3 year warranty and excellent power supplies (when they are inlcuded). Antec power supplies are also warranteed for 3 years. Whatever case you buy just make sure your power supply is a quality unit up to the task of your system. If the case you chose comes with a questionable psu, replace it. Don't take any chances.

Lol.
My favorite mid towers for build quality and high airflow. Around 100 or less would be: 1. Lian Li PC-7B plus II Black or PC-7B Silver <--Unparralled build quality 2. Antec P180 BLACK or Antec P180 Silver <--Great airflow design 3. CoolerMaster Centurion 5 <--Great bang for the buck too

Take a look at the Thermaltake range, most come with 'bling' features such as a window, and lights - without sacrificing on build quality. Cases with such features are ususally of lower quality.
With the style of case your looking at - get one without a power supply, and buy a quality one separately. FK

i planned on buying a different power supply, i've heard about the lackluster ones default with cases. i need about 550W for my x1900xtx and possible crossfire some day anyways.
I will keep my eye on thermaltake |

Weeeel...Bling and High performance (airflow) dont usually go together. If anything I would suggest the Thermaltake VA8000BWS or something from thermaltake. Which include the Kandalf and armour series. Once again those are full towers. You have to decide where you want to make the sacrifice.

Have you looked at all of Thermaltakes?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nufactory=1379 How much are you looking to spend?

Tsunami has a good bling factor but airflow wise not so good compared to the one the one panama suggested. I think antec outsourced it to codegen this time. That case looks very familiar.

Their power supplies stink, but look at the Aspire cases.

A week or two ago I came accross the Thermaltake Swing series of cases. I landed on them because I am starting to get sick of front door panels. Now they don't have the bling and lights, but trust me on this one. If the computer is in the same room you sleep in, lights get old rather quickly. There is however a side window version http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133173 that goes for $68.99. I was a little hesatent about building a high end gaming system inside one of these at first, but the airflow looks very good for the price and should work great if you add the optional front fan.

Eh airflow is..decent..Seen better though..I still think that the highest performance airflow case for the price is the silver antec p180.
But that swing does have some great looks. And it has better potential if equiped with a higher cfm rear fan. And looks of pretty sturdy build. Last edited by Mr.Ferrari; 07-31-2006 at 11:24 AM. |

Looks like a nice case and the airflow should be adequate. P180 sure is nice, but way over his budget unfortunately.
