After anxiously awaiting for what seemed like forever, I finally got my computer parts today.
Biostar TForce 6100-939 Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Processor Corsair ValueSelect 512MB PC3200 Memory Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160GB SATA II Hard Drive Ultra V-Series 350W Power Supply Well I put them all together, and I power up for the first time and it doesnt startup. No beeps, and no video. It powers up, all the fans and drives spin properly, I just don't get any video. On my motherboard there are 4 led's, and only 2 of mine light up. According to the manual, that means I have a CPU/chipset error, but I really dont think thats the problem. Some people have suggested that it's the power suppy thats causing this (I'm using an ULTRA brand). I've already tried reseating the CPU several times, powering up the mobo outside the case, even returned my RAM and exchanged it becase i thought that was the problem, but still nothing. Can anyone please help me out???? |

Read that. It says Ultra is a bad make for PSU. and to me 350w is a little low. Get something more like this http://www.fsp-group.com.tw/english/...d=49&proid=127 That's a 400w one, there is also a 500w PSU which I have. |

find and try a quality power supply. Ultra have issues so stick with a known brand like Antec etc.

You need a 24 pin ATX 2.0 spec power supply.

OK so today I buy a brand new Antec 550W Power Supply and try it out on my PC, and nothing!!! Still the same problem! The wierd thing is that im not getting any beeps at all! No matter if I take out just the CPU, just the RAM, or both and start it up, the same thing happens: No Beeps, All drives spin, the two led's dont come on (which means CPU/Chipset Failure) and i get no video. Somebody please help!!!!!

Could be the motherboard...
You can do one of two things: -RMA the motherboard at Newegg or wherever you bought it -Contact Biostar Technical Support and request a new motherboard |

The Biostar TForce 6100 is a AM2 socket motherboard. Here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138027
You have it as socket 939 in your first post. Are you sure you have the right processor for that board? |

Well, if you have tried all the pinned trouble shooting tips and still nothing happens, I think it's a smart choice to consider the motherboard.

Never mind, my mistake.
You are right, there is a TForce 6100 that is socket 939, ignore my previous post. Its getting late. ![]() Do you have the PSU hooked up right? The 24-pin main power cable is connected to the mobo and also the 4-pin square ATX12V connector to the motherboard too? Are you positive the CPU is installed correctly AND the heatsink/fan is securely in place? Also, is the right amount of thermal compound applied on? Maybe you have a bad motherboard or processor since you exhausted all of your other options. Only way to find out is swap them out.
You sure you are not shorting out the motherboard by any screws, unused motherboard standoffs, loose power cables? Did you try resetting your CMOS/BIOS? Is your CMOS jumper accidentally still set in the CLEAR position? |

Did you take the motherboard out of the case yet? If the motherboard is shorting/grounding out to the case (because of a stray standoff) then you're going to get what you're seeing...a computer that seems to start up with no image on the monitor.

OK well ive narrowed it down to two things:
1. Either the memory is bad because when I bought it it was already opened (I'm hoping thats what it is) or 2. Its gotta be either the CPU or Mobo is dead. If so, I will have to take it to a computer shop to find out which is bad, then I will RMA them. Well thanks for everyones help. Ill post tomorrow after I test the RAM sticks on my friends PC. |

If the memory is bad, usually you will get bios beeps. If you have some spare sticks lying around, swap them out and find out. Or, if you have more than one stick installed, try leaving in only one stick at a time.
I suspect it is the motherboard. But before that, have you tried the out of case build yet? |

You could also POWER ON the system and let it run for a while (10-15 minutes or so). Turn it off and TOUCH the heatsink. If it is not warm to the touch then you have a DEAD MOTHERBOARD or PROCESSOR.
If your system fails to even post, it is usually a PSU, motherboard, or CPU related issue. |
