really need help
Regarding PSUs and case fans, I thought I understood it all but I guess I don't. Take a look at these two pictures:
http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggIma...150-065-01.jpg http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggIma...189-003-11.jpg I would really appreciate it if someone told me the following: -How would that case fan connector fit into one of the PSU connectors? They do not look male/female. -What are the 4 pin square connectors for? -In a matter of fact, anyone mind explaining what ALL the connectors are? I was planning on just reading the instructions thouroughly, which I still will, but I'd like to have some prior knowledge. |

The other end of that case fan connector will be female. They design the connectors that way so you can daisy chain them.
The four pin square connectors from the PSU are the ATX12V connectors, otherwise sometimes known as P4 connectors. Some motherboards require that for extra power. |

20+4pin Motherboard connector, comes in 20 pin for motherboards only requireing 20 of the pins and has a detachable 4 pin for motherboard which use the 24pins-Plugs into that big powerslot (very obvious looking) on your motherboard. Big wide thing with 2 sets of pins bottom and top thing.
Flat 4 pin molex connectors-those male connectors with 4 big pins lengthwise-connect to some of your case fans, IDE hard drives, optical drives (dvdrw cdrw), some older agp cards, and other misc. accessories which you might buy for your computer in the future. Will state that they use them. 4pin P4 connector/12v ATX- The square molex with 2 pins on top and 2 pins on bottom. Most modern boards use this as a supplementary power supplier to the cpu. Usually is far off and is located near the cpu socket. Very obvious when seen. Pci Express power molex-The molex that looks exactly like the above p4 connector except has 3pins on bottom in top. Is used on newer pci express videocards. Floppy power cable- The little one that hangs off of the main line of flat 4pin molex connectors. Has also 4 pins but is the most smallest cable that comes with your psu, easily reconizable. Powers the floppy drives. Sata Connectors-Flat, thin, and in the pictures case, black connector that is used to power newer Sata hard drives. *Note, some newer motherboards and powersupplies do come with a second p4 connector. Instead of there being a 4pin slot near the cpu, its double sized, 8pin. This is called the EPS 12v connector. (Its not in the pic) Usually powersupplies include it and is detachable for motherboards who dont need the extra 4pins. Mainly used on Pentium D motherboards. That case fan has a double sided connector, one is male, the other one is female. The female attaches to the male molex's from the psu.
