use server mobo
i was wondering if you could use a server mobo and have 2 processers and that stuff as like a gaming computer or are server motherboards limited to only server tasks?

The motherboard could care less what you do with it, it's the software that will determine wether you can utilize dual processors. First and foremost you need and OS that recognizes dual processors, I think xp pro may, but for sure windows server versions do, than the particular apps you may use also need to be able to utilize those duallys.. I think the new dual core processors are more for gaming and such.

Basically, DUAL CPUS are useless unless the games you play have support for two processors. At this point in time I don't think most games do.
Better off sticking to a single CPU with higher clock speeds or going for dual core processors instead. |

You need XP Pro for dual processor systems, you can use XP Home for dual core CPUs.

but what if i had two single core opterons and xp pro.. could i basically run two games at once and such? i know duel core is alot easier for this kind of thing but i was just curious
