Hi motent,

Welcome to the forums.

The system spec you have listed above is looking pretty sweet. It's going to depend on what types of games you are planning on playing but in the most part that machine will run the majority of todays games at medium to high quality.

My only suggestion would be it would be well worth your while to chuck another Gig of RAM in there!

Good luck with the system build, I'm sure you will have fun

Tom

It is way way to early to suggest anything valid.

By then you might be thinking of buying a 4 core kentsfield processor from intel for the same price. There is no way that anything we say is going to stick by april 2007.

Retail processors do come with a heatsink fan assembly. And by using any other one you void the warranty. For stock usage you will need no more then that.

Some great issues raised by Mr.Ferrari which you should certainly bare in mind.

However!!!

If it's a first build then it's deffinately a good idea to be pricing up some components before you are going to buy. That way you will learn alot about what's available now and then and also get a good idea of what components work together and those that don't.

Yep April 2007 is still a long way to go.

By that time there is going to be less expensive parts that will be equal or better than your current listed setup.

Maybe HD-DVD or BlueRay dvd writers will be out and about too.

The parts you picked look good for now, but won't be one bit relevant in 8 months. There'll be new CPU releases, a couple new generations of video cards, new OS, etc.

It is possible the price could be around that range. Newer technology is being pushed out everyday, in with the new and out with the old.

It would be better to design your new build somewhere around the time you plan to build.

I have no idea, for sure, what will be around in April 07, and how much items will cost, etc. I understand you're anxious to get a new rig up and built, but you're jumping the gun a bit.

Sorry I have a habit of useing shortcuts, DirectX 10. New generation of video cards coming out in october in november. Im just saying by the time you build, you will be considering a whole lot of new technology.
