ok guys i started building my first computer and i put everything together but because i was stupid and didnt think about it i didnt format my hard drive before i put it in and now my whole computer is screwed up...I tried doing a couple things like installing a new version of xp but when i do that it gets stuck on "The setup is checking your computers hardware configuration" and it was stuck on that for a good 30 minutes so i tried something else...the windows on the hard drive wont boot up normally but it will boot up in safe mode... i tried throwing in a boot disk but when i get to the command promp and try to format it that way it said that the c drive had some kind of error and it was unaccessable...so i have totally ran out of ideas or anything...i also tried to install the same thing while i was in safe mode in my old windows but everytime i do that my computer just restarts...so if anyone has anyother ideas i would really appreciate your help

What are the complete specs of this computer?
Did you test the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic utility yet? You might want to test your RAM with MemTest86+ too. Cricket

Boot again with the diag utility and zero fill the hard drive. If it doesn't cooperate, you have another hardware issue, you may want to test your ram.

So, it will boot with the memtest86+ floppy and it passes all tests, but it won't boot with the WD Diags floppy? Download the WD Diags again and make a new floppy.
