Angry Fire booting up problems

I install and put all the power cords and cables on my cd rom drive and the hard drive and floppy drive, and when i turn on the computer it just turns on and doesnt boot up and the montior doesnt start up by its self like it should. now this has happen now to 3 straight computers that ran perfect until i took out just the hard drive. and the monitor still doesnt start up after i put the original hard disk back in the computer? is there a certain order that i have to put the power cords in?

Did you take proper static discharge procedures (ie, tapping the case to discharge any static electricity, not working in wool socks on a carpet floor, etc)? Also, check to make sure you didn't knock any other cables out while you were in there.

well i'm putting a computer together with a combo of like 5 computers i have, but something is weird. i took the hard drive outta my mom's computer that was only like 7 gigs and went to put in a 30 gig hard drive in it for her, well, when i put the hard drive in it didnt boot up or anything and the new hard drive had windows xp on it. plus, the monitor would automatically start like it should. so i put the old hard drive back in the computer and nothing. just turns on and doesnt boot up and the monitor wont start. now, the really weird thing is that the thing with the monitor, the same thing has happened to 3 different computers and they all do the same thing. now the specs are:

the computer is an older compaq pesario:

its 500 mhz
and i'm putting in 256 ram and a video card its just an older computer that i'm just adding better stuff into it.

one more thing would the jumpers have anything to do with what is happening cause i have a e machine computer here and it is 128 ram 40 gig hd 1.7 ghz processor. my buddy gave it to me and its been messed with by other people but the original system fan failed, now, i've put a new fan on it and when i start it still says what it said when i first got it and that is " System fan failure, shut down in 5 seconds" how can i get pass that in to the bios or something. thanks

Time to break them all down and take one step at a time.

Are you sure the components you are installing are compatible with the motherboard?

Have you try clearing or resetting the CMOS/BIOS on the Gateway?
