Freezing

I just built a new computer and at first when it was working I would get the blue screen error saying MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION after letting the comp run for around 9 hours. I updated the bios and formatted the hd and the blue screen disappeared but now the computer will randomly freeze and when it freezes the hd light stays on even though theres no sound of the hd loading and the screen is at a stand still.

What are your system specs?

There are a number of things that may cause the computer to freeze: faulty PSU, overheating, improper hardware installation, faulty hardware (memory, HDD, video card, etc.) to name a few.

The Enermax PSU you have linked to isn't too bad.

What brand is the case? If you open up the case, you can read the label on the PSU and it will tell you the brand and make. Most PSUs that come with cases are generally bad news, off the top of my head, Antec is the only one that comes with good PSUs.

I think your best best would be replacing the PSU with somethingl ike you linked to, or this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103931

As said, the PSU that came with the case is likely junk, underpowered, and not even the right spec for your build. What case did you get?

L&C is junk - replace it before it takes out the whole PC.

Hi Ryokushin,

I am just backing up what the others in here have suggested to you.

I also built a system, initially with a 400w supply that came with the case and my computer kept shutting down due to the power supply being poor quality. It didn't appear to be overheating but was just struggling to supply the components with a decent current.

Hope this helps you.

L&C appears on the list of bad PSUs here: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

Not sure if that is what is causing your "freezing" problem, but my advice would be to consider replacing it as a precaution. You never know what a bad PSU will do, but the results are not good.

Let us know if the problems still occur after you swap out the PSU.
