New build from a first timer

I have spent some time setting this build up. I am missing a power supply because I wasn't sure what I needed and wanted yall's suggestion. I am also taking suggestions about the whole build. Since I am new I am open to ANY good ideas. Feel free to fill me in with more cost-effective ways to build this PC (although I don't really care about price, just quality.)

Here is it:

Case: Looks great

PSU: I'd suggest the Antec Truepower II 550 - $90 from Newegg

Mobo: I don't suggest buying OEM motherboards - they won't come with cables and things. I'd suggest this board:

Unless your set on SLI.

RAM: I'm going to suggest this:

1) It's cheaper, 2) The RAM you picked out is overboard, and 3) I think the Ballistix series has had some quality control issues

CPU: Looks fine

HDD: I'd suggest getting a new Serial ATA (SATA) drive. A 20GB and 40GB will fill up VERY fast, and I don't know the specs of them, so a new drive very well may be faster. Besides, HDD's are *dirt* cheap these days. This one has good bang for the buck

Opticals - used ones should be OK. Might consider a LITE-ON or NEC DVD burner for $30 or so

Sound card - try the onboard sound first. It's probably better than the sound card

Video - Here's a video card, that's cheaper and will perform better

The clock speeds are higher, and the extra 256MB of RAM in the other card won't help you a bit

LAN - motherboard has onboard LAN controller

OS - can't comment on Linux....I know very few games (I assume this a gaming rig) will support Linux. Win XP Home OEM will run you about $90
