New computer problem

Hello, I just built my first custom computer and I am having trouble booting it up. When press the power button it will start and all the fans will go for a few seconds and then it shuts down. But if I switch it to 230V instead of 115V than it will turn on but I do not see anything on the screen.
Here are the system specs:
  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ AM2
  • Antec Sonata 2 w/ 450W power supply
  • Asus M2N SLI Deluxe ATX AM2 Motherboard
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200 320GB SATA2 3GB/S 16MB
  • Corsair ValueSelect PC2 4200 1GB DDR2 240PIN DIMM Memory
  • BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC PCI-E 256MB Video Card

I was thinking that it is probably the RAM, however it is on Corsair's compatatbility list for the motherboard so I am not sure. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Which country are you in? The US uses the 115v setting and many European countries use the 230v setting.

Is that Corsair VS RAM on the ASUS qualified RAM list?

You sure you installed the heatsink/fan and processor correctly?

Could be RAM incompatability. There isn't any Corsair Value Select RAM on the ASUS QVL.

That is a big mistake - trying to use DDR2-533 ram in an AM2 build. You need to get DDR2-800 (BIG bucks) or go back to 939 and get DDR400.
