Question about motherboard CD
Kind of a silly question, but I want to double-check. Do you insert the BIOS CD that came with the motherboard right after you turn the system on? No drivers have to be installed for the optical drive first? Also, with newer motherboards, will I be needing a floppy drive? And, is that set as the first boot device in most configurations? Can someone basically explain the steps from: Initial Bootup - Configuring Bios.
Thanks. |

It is not a BIOS CD it is a driver CD, it contains chipset drivers and some hardware drivers depending on what is "onboard" of your motherboard.
Most people don't bother with floppy drives these days but they are important if you need raid drivers for your harddrive. After you build your machine you should set the optical drive as the first boot device in order to install the operating system, after which if no floppy is used you can set the harddrive as first boot device, once you have installed your operating system put the motherboard CD in the optical drive and update the motherboard drivers via the device manager if required.
