Cannot enter BIOS setup

I finally got my computer to show something on the screen and I entered the setup a few times. I tried booting from the xp cd and it wouldn't recognize it, so I turned everything off and unplugged my dvd writer and plugged it back in again. Now, when I try to turn my computer it, I press delete to go into setup, it just freezes at "Entering Setup....."

Power off and unplug the computer, then pull the battery on the mother board for 5 minutes/replace and power on. This will reset the BIOS to default and should be able to get in and set stuff in the BIOS.

Okay thanks, I got into the setup. Now, I still can't get my xp disk to boot. Should my cd drive appear in the BIOS setup under Removable Drives? Right now, it only says Floppy Disks.

When I try to boot it, it says "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

In the BIOS change your DVD drive to the 1st boot device.

I changed CDROM to first in "Boot Device Priority" and it still doesn't work. Is there anything else that needs to be changed?

Is the Lite-On DVD burner recognized by the BIOS? If it's not shown you may have the jumper set incorrectly or the IDE cable may be bad...or the DVD burner is defective.

Can you try the DVD burner in another computer to see if it's working properly?
