The computer will be used predominantly for light gaming, as well as basic web surfing and media use. I don't want to spend more than $2000, and as is, it comes to roughly $1,800. If everything looks good, I'll probably go with what I have listed, but I may splurge on a slightly nicer video card. Any opinions/advice would be welcome. Thanks-

I was going to say the exact same thing about the PSU!

Yeah, a PSU can make or break your entire system.

Hop down to post #9 and #10

Might be something to consider. I can't comment personally on it, because I don't have any experience with a 965 chipset.

Buy choosing that motherboard Im gonna assusme you have certain uses for the wi fi or dual card feautures that it offers. That said, the p5b deluxe is not the bang/buck board to buy now. It is just a fancy Asus p5b. If your spending 250 dollars spend it on something thats worth it. I suggest the Asus p5wdh (make sure you get bios 0701 or higher) and Intel Bad Axe 975x rev.304. Both are the same if not a little lower or a little higher.

If you have truely no interest in a dual card configuration and are on a budget i would suggest you stick to the normal versions of the 965 like the Gigabyte ds3 and the asus p5b (non deluxe).

My mistake, your right, the board needs the 8-pin EPS12V connector too.

Thanks for the help - I switched the PSU to the ANTEC Antec TP3-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply with Three 12V Rails 100

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

Btw, where on the specs of the mobo can you decipher that it requires the 8-pin EPS 12V connector? I looked at it and wasn't able to pull that away from the info listed there...

As far as the mobo is concerned, I think I'm going to keep the one I have in case I decide to upgrade to SLI in the future, and I do want the supported Wi-Fi LAN features. The Asus P5WDH that was recommended was not in stock at NewEgg, and I couldn't find it even carried at Tiger Direct and it's something I want to go ahead buy now. Thanks for all the help again guys -

I don't see it anywhere in the specs either, but you can look at the pictures of the board to see what you need. I kinda looks like it takes both. There appears to be a cover over half of the pins that might be removable if you do have a EPS connector. Also, the regular P5B doesn't have the 8 pin EPS connector, just a 4 pin.

Look here: http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?m...3&l2=11&l3=307

Under the Internal I/O Connectors section, 2nd to last on the list in that section: "2 x 4-pin ATX 12V Power connector"

Remember though the 965 chipset isnt exactly the most mature chipset for dual card. That and the fact that your second card will be bottlenecked due to the second slot on the motherboard being 4x. If you want to go dual card I highly highly suggest you do it right with a 975x chipset board, otherwise you might regret it in the future. =/.

Might I ask why the nvidia card when you plan on going crossfire? You do know that the 965 or 975 chipsets cannot do sli. Only crossfire which Is 2 ati card's in a dual card config.
