I am a first timer assembling my first PC.
There are three power connections on my Intel D975XBX MB: 4 pin 8 pin 24 pin I have a Zumax ZU-650W ATX12V power supply that has a 20 pin connector and a 4 pin connector (that go together to make 24 pins), two 4 pin connectors that obviously go together to make 2x4. So far so good. That accounts for the 8pin and the 24pin. I am not sure what to do with the remaining 4 pin power connection. Other power connections that the Zumax has are: 4 SATA Connectors, 6 4pin peripheral, 2 FDD and two PSIE connectors. Probably stupid question, but hey it's my first one: do I connect the remaining 4 pin MB power connector using one of the 4pin peripheral PS connectors? |

Yes. The other connector you are referring to is the: Auxiliary PCI Express Graphics Power connector which is optional. If you have a PCI-E video card installed you will need to use it.
You have the 24-pin main power connector and the 8-pin EPS12V (processor power connector) connector hooked up so your fine. Last edited by minsonngo; 08-14-2006 at 01:52 PM. |

Ok, so I used the 4pin perpheral connector and connected it to the 4pin connector on the MB
, so now I have all three power connections to the MB.Thanks for your help. PS: I am afraid to turn it on! I'll wait till I am emotionally stable and can take the disappointment if I have a blown system for some reason! |

One thing... I never heard of Zumax PSUs before so I don't know too much about it.
But if it is a quality PSU, you have nothing to worry about. |

Not the best brand, but but fairly good.

Mssongo, just to beat it to death.
I have two 4pin PSIE power connectors that look like they might go connect directly to a PSIE board. The one that I have connected to the MB is a white connector that looks something like oooo this. The PSIE power connectors lhave 2pins over 2pins, not 4 in a row. Still good? Last edited by 911c4; 08-14-2006 at 02:56 PM. Reason: message didn't disply correctly |

Just plug in the two square 4-pin power connectors into the 8-pin EPS12V socket on the motherboard.
I looked up your PSU and it has support for EPS12V so you should be fine buddy.

I looked at the manual for the mobo and it says to use the 8 pin connector OR the 4 pin depending on the type of PSU your using, so use the 8 pin only.
