What kind of gaming am I going to be able to do?

Hey. I'm not really a PC gamer, in fact I own about a grand total of 3 PC games.

I'm building a new computer now, and I didn't want to design it with gaming in mind a. because I've never done it in the past and b. have a $600 budget.

But now that I have everything together, I'm just wondering if someone can give me a good idea of what I can and cannot play because I all of a sudden have an urge to PC Game lol.

I have a 2.2 ghz AMD Athlon Processor,a Raedon X1600Pro vid card, and 1 GB of RAM, it's pqi if that matters.

I'm guessing that I'm gonna have trouble with stuff out recently, and going/soon to be released, but hoping that it can handle stuff closer to a year old and older with ease.

I really know very little about what this all means, so someone help! lol.

That's a 3500+ processor and gig of ram.
You should be able to play anything now out.

Yep, that PC will play any game out. You will have to turn down the video settings in some games to get decent framerates, but you can pretty much play anything. Have fun, it's somewhat addicting.

Cool.

I used to be happy with console gaming. But I have Morrowind for the PC (can't really play it to well with my cpu though lol) and want to really test out the mod waters. Also want to hook up my 360 controller and play MVP Baseball with some mods lol.

I'm probably going to spend months just re-playing stuff like Morrowind and KOTOR that I played on Xbox only with mods and all that cool stuff lol.

Yeah, it will play Oblivion. You will DEFINATELY need to turn some stuff down though to get good framerates, but that card does fairly well in the game. Turn down/off: external and internal shadows, grass shadows, and lower or turn off most of the water effects. That will help tons. Remember that Oblivion is a game that brings even top shelf PC's to their knees. You WON'T get 60-70+ fps, but it will do fine. Oblivion, btw, is a very cool game.

Talking re palying games

if you are just upgrading your pc why not buy a second HDD then you wont lose all of you stuff, and if you are really felling nice you could transfer all the stuff from your old HDD onto your new and get it to a litte cousin, sister, brother, ect.... well could luck with it.
