Angry Fire New build, problems!!!

I really never wanted to have to post a thread like this in my life, but it's finally happened.

I just built a new computer with the specs below. I started out attempting an out-of-case POST, by hooking up the PSU to the wall, and then installing the processor (with CPU and fan), video card, and RAM into the mobo. I used a screwdriver to short the power connector. Every fan (CPU, Video card, PSU) starts up. They run for half a second, then they just shut off. I don't get anything on the monitor. All I can think of is a faulty part...but I was extremely careful putting it together!

Specs:

Mobo: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor
RAM: Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 PC 6400 2Gb (2x1)
Video Card: eVga GeForce 7900 GT KO

Please, if you know about a person who had the same symptoms and that they fixed it, help me out.

thanks,
Guruboy

What is the brand and model of the PSU?

Double check and make sure you have the PSU hooked up correctly to the motherboard, both the main 24-pin PSU connector and the 4-pin square ATX12V connector.

Make sure your memory is seated correctly, reseat them to be sure.

Double check and make sure your processor is installed securely and the heatsink/fan is locked in all the way.

Also be sure that there is nothing shorting out the motherboard like loose screws or unused power supply connectors.

I was wondering about that ATX12v...yeah I didn't connect it, because I thought the 24-pin was all I needed. The thing POSTed and stuff, I'll get back to you about how the rest goes.

Thank you SO much dude, I'm really glad it wasn't a big problem (yet)

So you connected the 4-pin square ATX12V connector and all is good now?

Yes I connected the 4-pin ATX12V connector and the current problem is solved. I'll update later if any other problems arise, but for now everything is great. Thanks minsonngo!
