Hello, I am a new to building Pc's but not new to Pc. I just want to know if my spec's are very good. I don't want just a ok responce, I hope that they are up to par, par being a hole in one!
MoBo EPoX EP-MF570SLI Case XION XION _ Solaris XON-403 CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor GPU eVGA 512-P2-N568-AR 7900GT KO 512MB Ram CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 Hdd Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB CD/DVD LITE-ON Black x2 Cooling APEVIA(ASPIRE) CF12SL-UGN 120mm x2 PSU Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Extra Microsoft Keyboard + Mouse This all is about $1200 off newegg. I will probally find the fans elseware becasue they cost 15 each, shiping included. I just want to know if it will be a good build in a few months, if not what should I change. P.S. The 2x means I getting two of them. Last edited by Dr Dmoney; 08-15-2006 at 10:29 PM. |

Looks good to me.
The case you have already comes with two 80mm fans. Are you certain the case even takes 120mm fans? |

Looks pretty good to me, just a couple suggestions.
I would look at LiteOn DVD Burners, because they come with Nero burning software. Those Pioneers are drives only. Are you planning on SLI down the road? If not, you can drop down to a non-SLI motherboard to save a bit. If you are planning on it, I would go with a bit more beefier power supply that is on Nvidia's certified list, such as the Antec 550: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103931

As alaron stated please skip the pioneer drives, I have one and Ive been regreting it. Loud as heck, and has some major playback issues. I would suggest you to not add any more fans then the case already has untill you build it and see if it is actually required. No point in adding any extra noise just for stock operation.

Sound does bug me that much. My music will be always playing. I just want to good cooling because it gets very hot where I am putting it. I don't think it supports it but not a hard mod to do. I probally should go with the liteOn players, so I will look around. I am not going sli because I have a 52in JVC HDTV as my moniter and two would just be over kill. Over kill indeed. Since I am not going sli i don't need to spend more money on a psu.
I am planing on Overclocking both my Gpu and Cpu, so I really need the fans. Also they are virtually quiet. P.S. i already got nero and like it but it is not what I use. Last edited by Dr Dmoney; 08-15-2006 at 10:17 PM. |

This Lite-On DVD writer is popular. It has DVD+R DL 8X and DVD-R DL 4X, so that covers what you are looking for. It also has Light Scribe technology.
LITE-ON Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 24X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache ATAPI/E-IDE DVD Burner W/ LightScribe - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106019 |

Just what I wanted... Also should I get one retail for the software because it has lightscribe.
Also should I get a 590 board than the one that I already chosen. The one that I have chosen goes faster that the 590 boards but does it really mater. Last edited by Dr Dmoney; 08-15-2006 at 11:04 PM. |

It doesn't really matter. As long as the chipset you chose to go with has the features you need you and you are happy, don't worry about it.
If you want to know the differences you can read about them at the following links: http://www.sudhian.com/index.php?/ar...90_sli_review/ http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce5_amd.html |

Requirements for LightScribe:
1. LightScribe-enabled optical disc drive 2. LightScribe-compatible media 3. LightScribe Disc Labeling Software (Nero has this feature and I think it is included with the Lite-On drive) |

Nero does have lightscribe, it is called Nero Labeler.
More info available at lightscribe.com. Nero and PowerDVD ship with the drive both OEM and retail versions.

OEM is only hardware. I will hae to get a retail version, but it is only four dollars for the solfware, so I am really saving even though i have the earlyer verson on nero.

FYI - OEM can also be for software too. Example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116049
The Lite-On drive already comes with NERO and POWERDVD, don't waste you funds getting another copy. |

What do you mean by the documentation?
If you are referring to the manual, you can always get that online at the manufacturer's website. |

You don't get a box or documentation with the Retail drives either. You just get the CD (judging by Newegg's pictures). It's an OEM copy of Nero. Pretty much like OEM Windows - it's the same thing as Retail minus the manual and fancy box.
I don't think you'll get any that unless you pay the $80 or whatever for a Retail copy of Nero.
