New build getting bad video
Hello all, I did a search for bad video connection and couldn't find anything useful but anyways here is what I have...
Pentium D 915 ECS P4M800 Pro kingston 512 3200 Ram DvD burner and CD-RW Thermaltake 430W PSU VGA to Composite adaptor I connected everything together and it turned on but my TV was blurry and I coulnt read what the computer was saying. I don't have a computer monitor currently so that is why I am using the adaptor to get a signal on the TV. How can I get it to work on my TV? Oh btw, this is a first time build so I haven't configure this in bios yet. Thank you. |

If you have a CRT TV hooked up to the PC, the best resolution you can get is 800 X 600 and most of the text is going to be blurry or hard to see. I believe (from my experience) you also have to have the resolution set at 800 X 600 in the OS even for the TV to be able to display anything at all. This is the best you can do with a CRT TV setup.
For the best results use a computer monitor or a LCD TV. |

This is the case if you are connecting with your computer's S-Video jack or the yellow AV video jack.
Adjust your resolution in the settings tab of your display properties. Use a selection no higher than 800 x 600 with 16-bit color. A setting of 640 x 480 will be much clearer, but icons and windows will appear very large Last edited by minsonngo; 08-16-2006 at 12:35 AM. |

You seem to be using onboard video. Have you considered getting a good, low end video card such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814133154, which I use myself?

![]() Now when you hook it up the the CRT TV after configuration, the screen is going to be black and white and jumpy from when the computer POSTs right up to when you get to the login screen. This is normal, once it hits the logon screen, the TV will stop jumping, color will return, and the screen will look normal again. This is just to let you know what to expect. It is jumpy and black and white until it gets to the Windows XP Login screen. Or if you don't have the login screen activated, it is jumpy until you load up to the desktop.
