I would replace the PSU in that case with a quality ATX 2.x power supply. Antec is a good choice or some other good brand on this list: http://www.forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

DDR2-800 may be better in the long run.

Why not get a dvd writer instead of the dvd-rom drive? Here is a good one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106019

Onboard sound is also more than adequate, you don't need another sound card.

A 250GB HDD is a better bang for the buck.

Skip the sony cd rom, get liteon.

The psu in that case is not sufficient. Get something 400w or above from a reliable manufacturer such as antec, fsp, silverstone, fortron, seasonic, enermax, tagan etc.

Get a pentiumd d 930.

Get something corsair, g.skill, mushkin, ocz instead of that pqi.

And please dont add all that extra warranty and pricing stuff in there, it gets really hard to read.

You will need an OS: XP Home OEM is around $80.

The case is probably fine but I'm not sure about the quality of that power supply. I really wouldn't trust it and would replace it with a Fortron Source or Sparkle Power PSU.

Why did you pick a Samsung hard drive? Samsung drives are known to be pretty unreliable and you might want to consider a hard drive from Maxtor, Seagate or Western Digital instead.

I've never heard of this brand and really can't comment on it. I tend to go with Samsung or LG LCD monitors.

I've never heard of this brand either. For network stuff I use Linksys or 3Com.

I don't really follow the video card market but I know eVGA is a good brand to go with.

Any reason why you aren't getter a DVD burner instead of just a regular drive?

I would skip the soundcard for now and see how the on-board audio sounds first...it might actually sound pretty good.

You might want to get two 512MB sticks of RAM so you can enable Dual Channel DDR.

Nice motherboard, but it's getting a little dated. You might want to make sure that PQI RAM is compatible with this motherboard.

That CPU is kind of old actually...why not get one of the newer dual core processors? The 9xx series CPUs are what's recommended nowadays.

Any ATX PSU will fit in your ATX case.

The one you picked out is good. Why not spend a little more and get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103931

The 480 watt Antec PSU he picked out is more than adequate for the rig he's specing out. No need to spend more if it's not necessary.

True, I just thought the 550w would be a better deal and allow more room for future upgrades. But yeah, either one is really good.

The parts selection looks fine, but I agree with Mr.Ferrari...go with Corsair Value Select instead of PQI.
