Well, Core 2 Duo is besting AMD right now. If you're going to spend this type of money, I would definitely spend it on C2D as it is the champ right now.

Just get 2 gigs of RAM. 32 bit Windows can only use around 3GB tops, and I don't think it can assign more than 2 gigs to any one program. What kind of other stuff are you getting? Of course, you'll need a hard drive and optical of some sort...

hardrive, 2 or 3 optical drive( dont ask why ) and i know i need longer cable because of my full tower so where can i find these at? So 4 gigs is useless unless i get the 64 bit windows correct

A DELL XPS700? A comparable home built computer will almost always run circles around a name brand computer.

Video cards

if you are willing to dish out this kind of money for a comp then i would suggest upgrading your mobo to a one thats sli compatible, then i would use 2 less powerfull video cards but you would alsmost get the same effeft or even better than wut u have. Also if you are going to do the SLI i would go with Nvidia becasue they work much better with each other than ATI's in my opnion

One good video card usually will perform better than two less powerful ones running in SLI or Crossfire mode.

Using two lesser cards isn't cost effective either (well, SLI and Crossfire aren't cost effective to begin with).

I don't think there are any good Conroe SLI boards yet.

Ati's crossfire is more cost effective, better IQ, Ati filters, plus ability to do aa+hdr. That combined with the fact that you can get a 1900 crossfire edition for 350. But in the end its truely your preference on ati vs. nvidia.

Anyways..

Looks like a good build, If you want to cut down on budget you can always go with a e6600. No noticable difference, but if you have the extra money then go with it. If you want to go crossfire in the future I suggest a Asus P5WDH as the p5b deluxe does not support it. Asus p5wdh has been out of stock everywhere for a few weeks, but from what ive heard they should come back in stock by late next week.
