Was going to build a new comp, then I saw this. Need some help!

Well, I decided it was time for me to build a new comp from the ground up. As I was doing some searches and I came across http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ Here's what they have to offer:

$1200
X-Cruiser Mid-Tower case
500 watt power supply
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 socket AM2
coolermaster liquid cpu cooling fan
2 extra case fans
Abit KN9 SLI nForce 570 SLI MCP chipset
2GB PC 6400 DDR2/800 corsair value select memory
Geforce 7600 GT 512MB pci express x16
150gb 10,000 RPM WD Raptor drive
16x dvd +r/+rw dual layer writer
16x dvd reader
3 free games(Half Life 2: Episode One, Age of Empires III, and Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends)
logitech keyboard
3 year warranty

and for $100 more they have the exact same setup but with:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 Ghz dual core processor
Asus P5N-SLI nForce 570 SLI Chipset LGA775 Motherboard

My budget is around $1200-1300. I do not have to worry about a monitor, speakers, audio card, keyboard, or mouse which helps quite a bit. My question is, is this a good deal for $1200-1300 or should I just build my own comp from the ground up? Thanks for all the help in advance!

that is up to you, it is something that is worth doing just to learn how to do. But if you want to have somebody do it for you then do that. I say do it yourself.

I just built my first computer last night, core2 system, and so far all is going well.(besides my case missing is psu bracket..)

Foosa, I've actually built all of my past computers, all the way back to my first. If I decide to go with this company this will be my first fully built computer that I buy. I just thought that that was a decent deal, and it is nice to have that 3 year warranty.

Is there a significant difference between those AMD and Pentium processors? I do not plan to overclock.

I'd pass on that and build your own. First, they don't mention the brand of power supply...it's probably a cheapo and they overcharge for it. Liquid cooling is kinda a waste of money, and I bet that's a cheap set. Also, for $1200 you can get a MUCH better video card. A 7600GT is a minimum gaming card...on that budget you can fit in a 7900GT or a X1900XT (or higher) which will perform much much better.

I checked this place's ResellerRating.com rating and it's overall rating was OK, but the service/return, etc rating isn't too great. If you build yourself most parts will come with warranties, so I wouldn't base your decision soley on that.

I would go with a Core 2 Duo build...benchmarks show it whipping the current AMD CPU's...

Cyberpower is among the worst possible places to configure a computer.
Very overpriced, and lots of generic junk parts, very poor customer service and support.
If you want a prebuilt machine, a Dell in that price range would be way better than the cyberpower.
Higher quality parts, better support etc.etc..
With your budget you can build a real nice machine yourself that will be significantly better than the cyberpower and will have modern quality components instead of whatever old junk cyberpower happens to have laying around.
