1000.00$ is a little low for Gaming, and even Music and Photo editing...

If you have a thread with a parts list it would be OK to link mostflyskaterboy to it. Otherwise this is his thread. |

Mostflyskaterboy.
You have a monitor but nothing else? Be clear on this because anyone spec'ing out a rig for you will inlude everything else. Like keyboard, mouse, speakers and a copy of XP. |

Cpu: Core 2 duo E6300 $193
Mobo: Intel 975x Bad Axe rev.304 $253 Memory: Corsair XMS 2GB DDR2 800 $204.00 after MIB Video/GFX: eVga 7600GT $159 after MIB Hdd: WD 250GB $67.99 After MIB Powersupply: Silverstone ST50EF 500W Great bang for the buck for quality. On sale. $70 Case: Pick your choice here, although some good brands to look out for is antec, codegen, coolermaster, aerocool, thermaltake, lian li, silverstone, sunbeam, chenming. Optical: Lite on dvdrw plextor and nec are also good brands. $32.99 Thats around ~$990 not including price of case. Let me know if this is too much for your, I left some room for flexibility.

I picked out for you a very nice build for gaming that should last you a while. It has some future upgradability as well, you could add SLI, more ram, cpu, etc. All parts are very adjustable. I picked out for you what I myself would build if I came upon $1000. Also, keep in mind that I am an AMD guy. Intel may have better offerings with their core 2 duo, but I know little about what motherboard you would need.
Edit: see above^ |

Motherboard options for Conroe are becoming more diverse. I see successful reviews all over. You might want to price out a C2D build fer sure.
