1000.00$ is a little low for Gaming, and even Music and Photo editing...

The PC I'm planning on building is around $950 and its a decent gaming computer, for everything including a monitor.

If you have a thread with a parts list it would be OK to link mostflyskaterboy to it.
Otherwise this is his thread.

Mostflyskaterboy.
You have a monitor but nothing else?
Be clear on this because anyone spec'ing out a rig for you will inlude everything else.
Like keyboard, mouse, speakers and a copy of XP.

I picked out for you a very nice build for gaming that should last you a while. It has some future upgradability as well, you could add SLI, more ram, cpu, etc. All parts are very adjustable. I picked out for you what I myself would build if I came upon $1000. Also, keep in mind that I am an AMD guy. Intel may have better offerings with their core 2 duo, but I know little about what motherboard you would need.

Edit: see above^

Motherboard options for Conroe are becoming more diverse. I see successful reviews all over. You might want to price out a C2D build fer sure.
