Computer not loading

My computer had just traveled 3000 miles to my dorm room here in florida and now when I turn it on it has power but wont even get to the post page and the monitor doesnt even sense it as on....... any idea as to whats going on...... I ve gone through the computer making sure wverythings connected...... could it be my monitor?

It's certainly a possibility.

Have you checked the heatink and CPU are still in nice and firmly.

Also it might be worth pulling out all the cards and RAM sticks then replaceing them and checking they are pushed into the slots nice and tight.

In England its 220 volts at the plug if I am not mistaken. Could the powersupply need to have the 220/110 switch set to the 110v position? Other than that it may be a loose card inside.

If that was the case wouldn't my power supply be fried and not working at all

Not necessarily. I once had a 220 device that was plugged into a 110 supply. It survived.

Should also check the monitor to see if it can auto sense the AC voltage. (check the rating plate on the back, should show something like: Input Voltage: 100 to 240)

Any *decent* power supply I would think would sense the wrong voltage and stop without damage.

Motherboard may have shifted during transit and is shorting with the case...

So would I need to buy a new power supply? Or is there a way to get this one working..... like replace a fuse maybe...... i dunno much abotu power supplys
