52x CDROM?

I thought 52x cdrom would be good for gaming because its fast, but again I don't know a hole lot about hardware and the percentages, but I heard with 52x since its so fast it will shatter your cd's...so should i go lower? Or should i get the 52x? Here is the one I wanted to get:

LITE-ON Black 16X DVD-ROM 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM 1.5M Cache ATAPI/E-IDE Combo Drive

I have heard rumors of 52x cd rom drive shattering CDs, but I have never seen anything of the sort happen. I have a 52x drive and have no problems. Pretty much everyone who has a new cd rom drive has a 52x. You wont have any problems.

I do remember hearing that back when 52x drives started coming out, but I haven't seen anything about it in quite a while. I wouldn't worry about it.

The games would install/load faster, but wouldn't really play better. Most all current games install everything to the hard drive and only need the CD in the drive to prove that no you're not using a pirated copy of the game, if they ask for the CD after install at all. It's been a few years since any games played right from the CD.

Well that's why I try to buy all larger software like games on DVD if it's avalible. You can stick one disk in and let it run while you eat lunch or something, rather then having to sit there and swap disks 3, 4, 5 times.

Personally, i would be looking to this : CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X
Only if you rip alot of cd's to your pc, you might be interested in a 52X CD reader, but since almost all of the games are released on DVD.. Well, anyway, it's a good buy!
