first build questions

Hello,

I have recently build up my computer and everything seems to working. Just install my window XP and i would think it was a success.

The question i have now is that so far i turn on my computer twice and when both times i turn off my computer i realize that the keyboard light over the NUM lock is still on. This keyboard I am using now is the one i got from dell. When i was using this for dell the keyboard light usually turn off with the computer but i was wondering why this is happenning now.

Also for the motherboard i am using which is
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...oard+%2D+Retai

the problem i have is that i cant put the ethernet cable into it. For some reason the backplate the metal plate given from asus is having this metal piece that wont go in and i can put the ethernet cable to it. anyone know the solution?

l

The keyboard num lock light being on is normal... some motherboards do this, some do not. It's nothing to worry about.

As for your backplate, the solution is to either get the correct backplate, modify the existing one, or leave the backplate off. I prefer not to do the latter.

well the backplate im using right now came with the motherboard and it fits in perfectly but the only problem is that for that ethernet cable slot there a tiny metal thing that blocking the way and i dont know if i should clip it off or what.

also i just found out about this problem recently. my computer was working perfectly fine (meaning no random restarts) but now there is. it was working ok b4 i started installing drives. the thing i install into my PC is the following. the CD that came with the motherboard and i install almost everyting but the PATA RAIDS. also i downloaded things that came with my video card. and i installed something named RES charge 0.5 i think. and after these install in random minutes imy computer starts to re starts inself. is there a reason y this is happenning? THX

Just bend that metal prong slightly so that you have enough clearance to fit the board to the backplate.

The first one is a generic screen that could mean a lot of different things.
Cant make out what the second one says from the pic you posted.
Could you type it out in a post.

What are the complete system specs for this computer? List the parts by brand and model including the power supply.

You might want to test your RAM with Memtest86+.

And if you're using a BETA video driver for your video card you might want to uninstall it and install WHQL certified drivers instead.
