Help! Problems with initial boot up.
I put my pc together last night:
MB Intel D945GNTL Intel Pentium D 930 512x2 corsair memory 667 DDR2 Western Digital 250 gig HD Lite On opitical drive Powercolor x1600 vid card When I go to boot up everything in Bios looks fine then I go to the boot screen and it reads: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting intel boot agent No Bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key So I insert the intel cd rom into the opitical drive and press a key and I get the same message. What are some starting points I should do to get it booted to load windows? |

For "Media test failure", replugging the memory (ie. taking it out and reinserting it applying firm pressure when inserting it) seems to be the solution for the most part. After that, go into the BIOS and change the boot order so that it searches your optical drive first on boot. Then, insert the operating system disk into the drive and reboot.

Ok I'll give the memory a shot, It is showing up in BIOS. I already have the opitical drive first in the boot order.

No dice, nothing changed. Still getting the same messages. I didn't install a floppy drive so I think I'll pick one up tomorrow and try to create a boot disk that way.

Well I got windows to boot now but it will not load error 0x0000007e which is driver error or something like that. Going to call it a night and about to call geeksquad or someone else to get this machine up and running soon.
