Powerpoint computer build

I'm planning on building a pc to run powerpoint to a project. FOR CHEAP, but I still want a good quality at this task. What specific components should I be looking to spend the cash on and what can I skimp on?

I plan on at least a 40gb hd too with a cd-rom nothing more.

Thanks

You might consider an entry-level DELL for low use purposes. Or even purchasing a second hand computer for cheap. The cheapest build with quality parts I can put together is around $300, and will be overkill for system designed for powerpointl.

I don't think PowerPoint is going to be too demanding, unless you're planning on imbedding alot of audio and video clips into your projects.

How cheap are you talking here, and what sorts of peripherals will you be needing? Just stay with the established brands. Quality PSU, Intel or ASUS mobo with a P4, onboard video and sound, a couple sticks of 256MB memory would be sufficient I would think.

As mentioned above, PP doesn't take a lot of horsepower. Look at some of the "budget" threads; that'll get you a decent machine for not much $$.

I'd go with the dell option also, when you're going super cheap building a PC isn't any cheaper then getting the cheapest dell.

Just make sure it has at least 256mb of memory, 512 might be preferable if the powerpoints will have a lot of graphics and audio. the CPU speed and HD size won't matter much.

go through the Dell small business, and you can get a celeron D system that should work for you fine for $249 (if you tell it you don't want a monitor).

also might check the Dell Outlet (refurbished) area. I see a system with a P4 CPU and 512 memory for $219 that would be awesome for you.
