I've just built my very first PC, and upon firing it up for the first time, I received an error code: PXE-E61 "Media Test Failure, Check Cable." The MSI board logo will pop up first, and then this error message BEFORE i can get to the BIOS area. Here are the components in my PC:
1) BOARD - MSI K9N Platinum motherboard, Newegg Item #: N82E16813130049 2) CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPU, mfg part #: ADA3800CUBOX 3) RAM - Mushkin EM2 1024 MB DDR2 800 MHz, mfg part #: 991527 4) HD - Western Digital Caviar SE16 SATA, Newegg Item #: N82E16822136003 5) VIDEO CARD - PNY Verto GeForce 7600 Gt, mfg part #: VCG7600GXPB 6) CD/DVD drive - LITEON shm-160p6s, mfg part #: SHW-160P6S04 If you see any incompatibilities, or have any suggestions, please respond!!! Thank you...... |

Should be able to get into the BIOS by hitting the DEL key as soon as you start to see anything show on the screen. Then check that the HD is detected and set CD as first boot.
