new build
This is my second build, I'm designing it for a friend. Its very similar to my build, so there shouldn't be any problems. Now besides the power supply being crappy, is there anything wrong you can find with this build? It is for low end stuff, minimal gaming and no video editing or anything. Also, if someone could suggest some RAM, thats the one thing i have no idea how to pick. He wants 2 gbs, so some set of 1gb. Thanks
Case Intel motherboard Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT processor Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 disc drive for graphics he has an older PCI card, , and will upgrade later probably to a radeon x1300 and of course, xp OEM. thanks for your input, anything would be great. This isnt for me, so i cant mess it up. |

I would get a power supply seperate from the one in the case for reliability, and I would also consider getting a Pentium D processor at the very least, as single core processors are becoming obsolete. How about this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116238 - This will perform twice as good for less. |

For the motherboard I would go with the ASUS P5LD2.
For the processor I'd go with the Intel Pentium 4 641 Cedar Mill 3.2GHz. For the RAM I'd go with CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667. And definitely replace the power supply with something better. This 400 watt Fortron Source will power this system easily. The drives look fine. Cricket
