Unhappy New Build - No Display

I recently built a new computer, the specs are CPU: S939 Athlon 64 X2 3800+, CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS7000B-CU, 512MB stick of Corsairs Value Select (New ram hasn't arrived yet, just used to test), PSU: Fortron Sparkle FSP/SPI ATX-400PN 400W ATX12V (Tried multiple power supplies), Mobo: Gigabyte GA-K8N51PVM9-RH

All the fans, lights, and cd-drives will power up, but no video is displayed, I have tried taking all parts out and putting them on a non-conductive surface, with only the mobo, memory, CPU, and cooler, and it still doesn't work, what would cause this?

Well, I have a EVGA 7900GT, but I'm just using integrated to test.

I'm experiencing an identical issue with my newest build. My thread on the topic is below (titled Board DOA?) but, unfortunately, none of the suggestions therein solved the issue. I'm very close to calling it a bad mobo and RMA'ing it but since A) Many people on here seem to be having the same issue, and B) this is my first building using AM2 or an integrated video chip, I want to believe this is something correctable. I really don't want to RMA a board only to find out when the new one arrives that the board wasn't bad afterall but instead I just missed something. I've tried everything I know how to do without success.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I just don't know what I could have done wrong, I tripled checked that everything was seated properly and connected, I think I'm going to RMA it.

You may want to wait until you get the ram is recommended for your system. Non validated ram could be the reason the system isn't starting.

Well wouldn't the computer make beeping noises if the ram wasn't correct?

EDIT: Would improper placement of the heatsink cause no video? Or does it matter which way it is screwed in?

No, not always. If the RAM isn't compatible you might just get a system that doesn't do anything but sit there.

Check to see if the heatsink is sitting flat and level on the CPU. If it isn't you'll have to correct that before doing anything else.

The heatsink was seated properly and flat, I was just wondering if it matters which side it was connected. (ie, the shortest route for the cord to connect to the cpu fan connector on the mobo) I used memtest on the memory, and corsair's site lists it as compatible. If the it's the mobo that's at fault I'm thinking of RMA'ing for refund, and getting an ATX board & Case, but I don't have another setup to test if the mobo is faulty.

I think I found the problem. Would this be caused if the motherboard's bios revision did not support Dual-Core processors?

According to Gigabyte, your board supports that chip since BIOS version 1. http://us.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/...N51PVM9-RH.htm

Smile Thanks

Thank you all for your help, the problem was the motherboard, and I got everything working now.
