Question New build, should I use XP 64 bit version

I have all the hardware for a new build:

Gigabyte Technology 3D Auraura Series Full Size Tower
OCZ 700W GXS SLI Power Supply
Intel Dual Core Extreme X6800 2.9GHz Processor
ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe Nvidia 4 Motherboard
CORSAIR Twin (2x1Gb) 2048-6400 RAM
MSI NX7900GTX 512Mb Video Card
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Sound Card
Hitachi Deskstar 500Gb 7,200 RPM 16 Mb cache SATA 3.0Gb/sec Hard Drive
Samsung 18x DVD-R/32x CD-R 2 Mb cache E-IDE/ATAPI combo drive
Reserator Plus liquid cooling tower.

But do I need XP 64 bit? I dont know if the dual core extreme is condsiered 64 bit or not. If not I'll jsut get XP pro w/SP2 OEM, it is inexpensive on Newegg right now.

You don't need the 64 bit edition.

nice rig, but stay away from x64 win, it can be soo frustrating. and to be honest it has very few advantages over the 32 bit version (from a user's perspective). best wait for vista for 64 bit, something i should have done instead of got x64 win.

Talking

Thanks you guys. You saved me from making the wrong purchase. Looks like I'll be buying that Win XP w/SP2 OEM. It's cheap now that Vista is (supposed to be) coming out.
