re-do old etower?

I've given my old etower 500ix to my daughter. It's maxed out now and she's going to buy a laptop. I'd like to re-vamp this thing, and I'd like to find out what kind of MB I can put in it. It's an ATX midtower. Is there anyway I can figure this out ahead of time instead of trial & error?

Probably just about anything as long as the case is standard ATX with 7 expansion slots. You will more than likely need to replace the power supply and if the front panel uses a unitized connector, you will have to sort those out.
