For a system like that, your P4 is probably the older socket 478, or even 423. You would be hard pressed to find a different motherboard. Your best bet is to just add more ram and lose Windows ME.

Is this a homemade system or a name brand (Dell, HP, etc) ? If its a brand, post the model number.

And you would have to add Windows XP or 2000. You cannot buy Mac OS for a PC.

The Pentium 4 1.3Ghz was a socket 423, which is now very old tech. You won't find any new motherboards or faster chips that use that socket.

I would look at what kind of ram that board needs, most likely PC133 SDRAM, and add as much as you wish. I would use a bare minimum of 256mb for Windows XP, 512 would be better.

Bottomline, that system is old tech, you wont be able to make much selling it.

If you're going to that you might as well just build a new computer.

Will the MAC OS even run on a INTEL based system?

You'll need the x86 version...I'm not even sure if they sell it stand alone though...

You need an Apple computer to run MacOS - it's locked to Apple motherboards. I don't care what processor it is.

Your old computer may even have RDRAM - upgrading that is an exercise in gross overspending, that stuff is EXPENSIVE. 1gb of that stuff is $500US.

hmmm, that sounds fishy... i've never heard of people doing that.

I'm suggesting that you don't do that for two reasons though.

1. Against the law apparently.
2. sounds like iffy compatibility and prone to crashes
3. I just don't like macs all too well

Maybe $200 if you are lucky. A shop won't even buy it.

Oh, I heard that the RDRAMs are very very rare, and even when the Pentium 4 (423) are released, people were also purchasing the 370s and the As when they are also released because the PC133 RAM is much cheaper and easier.

I have a friend who has an old Pentium 4 (1st generation) bought in 2001, and now he wanted to upgrade the RAM, but the second hand RAM prices could be so so expensive that he could even buy a new set of computer with that amount of money.

In my humble opinion - it's easiest if you can change the whole system.

For the Mac O.S - it's not designed for IBM PC. There will be serious complications if one wants to put the OS into the IBM PC.

Then why did you even bother to ask us what it's worth?

Read this carefully, please. We are NOT here to assist business people to make money. We are here to assist hobbyists. We spent a LOT of time making recommendations for your last build - then you went out and bought different components, built the system, then sold it. This is taking advantage of us and we don't appreciate being treated like that.
