Hi guys, can someone please help me? I'm new to building computer. I just put together my system. My parts are:
-Asus A8N-SLI-Premium MB Retail -AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ Retail -Western Digital 74GB SATA HD OEM -CORSAIR 1Gx2 Twinx2048-3200c2pt Retail -NEC DVD+/-RW OEM The system turned on fine (on the first try, whewww). I got into the BIOS and set the CD-ROM to be the first device to boot. I putted in Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2. I exited BIOS and Windows began the installation process with "Windows setup" on the top. It ran for a few minutes then I got this message: "File SETUPREG.HIV could not be loaded. The error code is 32768 Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit." Has anyone encountered this problem? Can anyone help me? Thank you guys. |

Have you reset the BIOS via the motherboard jumper? you may also want to try removing one of those sticks of ram just for the install.

I reseted the BIOS via the motherboard jumper & removed one stick of ram. I got the same error message again. I removed the Windows CD & hit the reset button. The system restarted but then it stopped/stucked on the "drives listing" and "PCI device listing" with "Bus No. Device No. Func. No. Vendor/Device Class Device Class IRQ" columns with different number values screen with the cursor blinking at the bottom of the screen. Shouldn't it proceed until it gets to the "No system disc" or no operating system disc or something like that? Is this a motherboard problem?
Please advise. |

Swap the sticks of ram over, you may have just found the cause of your problems.

Test your ram.
www.memtest.org Test your hard drive with Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Diagnostics (free download). |

Download the DOS package and make the floppy disk, boot with it.
