Smile Need Advice on Building a Good Gamer

I'm trying to put together a good gamer/multitask computer. Here is a list of the parts i'm thinking of purchasing. Can anyone please tell me if my choices are good or any improvements on what I have chosen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(Athalon 64x2 4200 Windsor 2x512kb AM2 CPU)$184.00
(Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe motherboard)$196.00
(Evga 256-P2-N583-AR 7900GT 256mb gddr3 PCI expressX16 Video)$279.00
(DDR2 Memory 1GB or 2GB)

Am I making the right choice going with DDR2 memory? Do I want non-ECC, ECC registered or ECC fully buffered?
Thanks for any advice!!!!

You need Non-Ecc DDR2 800.

You also need a harddrive, windows copy, a powersupply, case, and opticals.

Before I suggest any further, what is your budget?

I assume that since you have chosen an SLI board, you have plans for sli?

And if this is a gamer I highly suggest looking into something Core 2 Duo? A more stable and much much more powerful platform for the same price.

Your choice, am2 would do you great too.

like mr ferrari says, we need a budget to help you further, or know any parts you plan on transfering over to this system from an older one.

that am2 processor is a great processor, but has a lot of issues with ram so far, so if you aren't such a skilled person with computers, i would maybe get the lowest price core 2 duo from intel that you can find. E6300 will be the lowest anywhere you look, and will perform just as well as that processor for your needs... just cost maybe $5-10 more. Of course you would have to change mobo and maybe ram etc... so it all comes back to the budget...

What about the 7950 cards? I don't know if that 7900 GT has SLI on it (Two processors) but I do know that the 7950 series does. Thats one way of getting SLI without having to buy two cards. I know that those are a bit pricey right now, but just a thought.
