AGP Budget Build CS:S@150-200FPS
Even though I would rather buy PCI-E board, just wow the computer got over 150 FPS, 50 FPS lower than my friends rig with 7900GT, using all high settings on Dust2, AA 2x, Anisotropic 4x, full HDR (High Dynamic Range), 512 DDR PC3200/400MHz (surprised me it ran so good)
Just wanted to see how better CS:S would work on my dads computer using his 19" flatscreen AGP 8x, pc3200/400mhz, AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Clawhammer 2.2GHz, MS-7142 motherboard: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ @ $125 - free shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103560 K8MMV Motherboard @ $59.99: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.proc...feed.MSR+K8MMV eVGA GeForce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 (low I know, I got it for $139 a while back on newegg, they are sold out of the model I have) 128-a8-n350 card specs (don't buy from here, rip off): http://www.digiconcepts.com/evga_videocards_32.htm Reply with any comments/suggestions. |

Most people do not even consider making a newer build with the older technology, however if it works how you want it to... i guess there are no arguements.
The build looks good enough and compatible and all. The 754 socket is getting slightly dated, but again, if you know beforehand that you are paying for it, then it is fine. regarding the processor, i remember reading the F.E.A.R. was recommended to be ran on an Athlon 64 3500+ or better. So if you are wanting to game to the next level, then you should consider revising this build to a PCI-E build instead, and upgrading the processor. |
