Speaker Jack (Side) on Shark?

Hi. My Thermaltake shark's chassis has a case LED connector labeled "SPEAKER". The manual says it connects to the SPK connector on the mobo. However, I can't find such a connector on the Intel 975xbx badaxe. I'm confused as to how to handle this particular LED connector. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

That connector is actually for the case's built in POST speaker, that hopefully beeps once when you boot up your computer to let you know everything is well.

It connects to (ususally 4) pins in the 'front panel header' bank on your motherboard. Check the manual for the exact location, and the polarity.

Thanks FK.

But it appears (from the mobo's manual) that all of the front panel header's connectors are allocated for other purposes. None seem to remain for the POST speaker. The mobo does have a speaker...does that supplant the chassis' speaker?

ahh yes, sometimes motherboards come with Piezo speakers that connect directly to the ports on the front panel header. I've also seen instances where the speaker posts are jumpered, which pipes the signal to a speaker built into the board.

Short answer, yes, you only need one or the other.

Intel boards have a builtin piezo speaker and no connector for a case speaker. Just tie the lead off.
