This should be easy....

Right... I'm PLANNING to build a new PC....

The question is what is the best Processor of 64 bit arch (AMD vs Intel P4), and therefore the best motherboard to go with it?

I want to spend about £100 (about $190) on the processor, and about the same on the motherboard (hopefully less)....

And then, the best graphics card to go with all that, again for about the same price...

Would like some opinions.
Thanks

You are just on the edge of being able to do a good Intel Core 2 Duo system. I'd go for that. An E6400 would run about $227.00 US, but the GIGABYTE GA-945P-S3 motherboard that looks like a nice budget Core 2 board only runs $90.99. Something along those lines anyway.

E6300 would be the best choice for bang/buck. Conroe E6300 $183

Best motherboard to go along with that would be
Asus P5B $154.99
or
Intel 965P $112.99

Best gpu for the price would be
7900GS $197.99
OR
7600GT $152.99

go with the intel core 2 duo E6300 and you will not be sad at all. That processor is awesome. After that, the p5b is probably the best board out for a new computer. It is probably the only motherboard I would buy right now that uses and Intel processor.

About the RAM....
Don't really wanna spend £200...
More around £50.....

I take it that just any old DDR2 RAM won't do.... or will it be ok...?
