150 or less mobo for pentium EE
I have no idea what kind of motherboard to get a Pentium EE...
i don't need sli, i'm more into overclocking right now as a project so stable in that area. from there i'll think up graphic cards. oh and ram... but i need help on deciding on a mobo. lol... well i need something that is decent and will last a few yrs. (2 at most, prolly 1 yr at least) yea price budget for the motherboard is aprox. 150 dollars. ok i guess i have some idea, as i jus narrow search in newegg... lol but opinions for the motherboard would be greatly appreciated one thought is ABIT AW8D Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard. I enjoyed many abits. plus has SLI... which i don't mind to have lol http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127231 another is the ASUS P5B Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard idk how good or stable that mobo is. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131030

Pentium EE? Do you mean a core 2 duo x6800?

You're willing to spend $1,000 on the CPU but don't want to spend more than $150 on the motherboard?

Don't even bother with that CPU. The Core 2 Duo X6800 will outpeform by a huge margin. (heck, I've seen the $180 E6300 beating it). The Core 2 Duo's are great overclockers...I doubt you'll get much out of that 965, it isn't going to go much higher...you'll need a premium motherboard to handle the power load and some hefty cooling to cool that sucker down if you want to overclock. The Core 2 Duo's have been overclocking decently on stock cooling...
The ASUS P5B would be a good combination with the X6800 (even a E6600 or E6700 would be very nice - there isn't really a need for a $1000 CPU) If you're going to spend these kind of bucks, get the best you can for your $$.

If your into overclocking the motherboard that would be best would be the P5B Deluxe.. around $240-250 I think.

get the p5b deluxe mobo and DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT that processor, it was good before, but save over half of that money and get one of the core 2 duos if you want to outperform it... or, keep the $1000 price for the cpu and get the Intel 2 duo extreme edition, which will make you cry b/c it is so fast.

A $1000. CPU and a $150. Mobo is comparable to replacing brake disc rotors and reusing the old pads.

For $30 more I would seriously consider a Core 2 Duo E6300 -- from what I've seen the performance is about on par or even better than the 965. Not only that, it puts out half as much heat/power and overclocks like crazy.

Get the P5B. The 965EE is already running at 1066 FSB so don't plan on overclocking it much, it's a furnace already.

Oh, $30 more than the $150 your getting it for. From what I've seen the E6300 overclocks like crazy and it outpeforms the 965 - which is pretty much maxed out. You'd really need to venture into expensive, hefty cooling for the 965 if you want to overclock. It puts out, I believe, 130+ W whereas the E6300 is 66W and overclocks decently on stock cooling.
