$1600 Gaming system

Ok now this will be my second build. It will be used for gaming, net, music, burning dvd ect.
I want this pc to play any game WELL for the next 1-2 years. Feel free to add comments.
Here's what i have come up with-

Motherboard - ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe Socket T NVIDIA nForce4 SLI (not planning on SLI but don't know which other board to choose)

Processor - Intel® Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe

RAM- CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 Dual Channel

Video Card - Leadtek PX7950 GX2 (better value to just get the 7900 GTX?)

Hard Drive- Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA II

DVD- Lite on DVD burner

Case & PSU - Antec 'Atlas' Server Case - BLACK, 550W PSU
http://www.abit.com.au/computer-syst...ase-black-.asp

How does this look? Budget is $1600 USD ($2000 AUD)
Go with 7900GTX or 7950 GX2??
And motherboard options since im not SLI.

This won't be built till december BUT i'm just getting a general idea. Won't be too different from the final build.

Cheers

Don't get that motherboard... nForce 4 + Intel = No. Any preference between ATI or nVidia? I'd recommend the Asus P5W DH motherboard - ATI Crossfire capabilities. I'd pair it will the equal or better performing ATI equivelant of the 7950GX2, the x1950xtx. Should perform extremely well.

I prefer Nvidia, always have for some reason. I forgot to add XP home to the list.
How does the list look?? I don't want to be upgrading ANYTHING in the pc for a while.
Also i'm not planning on crossfire OR SLI.

Motherboard: As the above said nf4 and intel have serious stability and reliability issues. I suggest you stay away from it. If your going intel then crossfire is the best choice. Not to mention it beats anything nvidia has to offer at the moment.

If you want a dual card config I suggest the Asus P5WDH.

Videocard: If your willing to go all out and want a card that'll beat the 7950GX2 get the X1950XTX. Its cheaper. Its faster. And suprisingly enough its only one card. Not two fused together.

HDD: I suggest the Seagate 7200.10 series in the GB flavor of your choice. The next best thing to a raptor.

PSU: The psu in that case will not power Crossfire.
For a crossfire setup these are the psu's I reccomend:

Corsair HX620W $179.99

Enermax NoiseTaker 600W ($129.99 after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate)

OCZ GameXtreme 700W $129.99 after MIB <---My pick for bang/buck
PC Power&Cooling 610W Silencer $159.99 <---BEEFY single rail!

Silverstone ST65ZF 650W $159.99

ThermalTake Toughpower 650W $154.99

According to ASUS's page - you would need either the "SE" version of that board, or the Premium board. The board you listed doesn't support Core 2 Duo...

I said in my previous post that i didn't want to crossfire or SLI.
The PSU I listed should be enough to power a 7950GX2 or X1950XTX.

If you don't need a dual slot board, look at the Asus P5B series. The power supply in that case will power any single card out there.

Yeh your right it doesn't aupport core 2 duo.
Im not planning on overclocking. Will value select be fast enough?
Also what single slot motherboard would you reccomend?
I really would prefer going with the nVidea 7950GX2. It has better reviews. So a single slot motherboard.

*EDIT*
what about these motherboards?

Don't get the one with onboard video. Not only is it a small form factor, which I prefer a bigger one just personally, but for a gaming system just get the video card and the P5B ATX.

For the best results for a gaming system will the ASUS P5B Socket T be worth it?

Even though i'm not planning on SLI at this stage i want the best results from the core 2 duo and 7950gx2.
Also is the XMS2 corsair RAM worth it if i'm NOT overclocking?

Yes. I don't think Corsair has DDR2 800 in their Value Select line yet.

Will I get better preformance from a SLI motherboard?

Like i said i don't want to be upgrading for a LONG time and i want the pc to run all games on high settings. I want a motherboard thats going to make the proccesor and everything to run FULL and stable the way they should run. Not on a board where i wont be getting the max preformance.
I want good quality.

I Just want to make sure.......

For the money, YES. The P5WDH is a bit better but a lot more expensive. Actually, you should not notice a bit of difference unless you try to overclock - the P5WDH overclocks a tad better. You said "stable" so this pretty much rules out an extreme overclock anyway.
