New Build, No Post
I've built a few pc's and I always do a "out of the case" post test.
All I get are a few turns of the cpu fan and nothing else. No beeps no video. Specs are: Asus P5P800-VM Cely D #326, LGA775, 2.53ghz 2 sticks 256mb Crucial DDR400 PC3200 ram I checked both the 20-pin mobo connector and also the 12v- 4 pin connector. Both connected tight, etc. The case is an Enlight with an Enlight 300w psu. I miust be missing something. Can anybody help? TIA |

Hey Kubie...been awhile.
Is the LGA775 heatsink installed properly? Are the pins fully inserted and locked properly? Do you have another compatible power supply you can test with? Just to rule the PSU out. Have you tried to POST with just one stick of RAM? Cricket

Hey Cricket! Yeah, its been awhile.
I haven't installed a heatsink quite like this one so maybe I need to check and see if the hs/fan installation is correct. I'll check with one stick of ram. I have another pc here, but I'll have to see if the psu has the 12v P4 connector. BTW, the green power light does come on, on the mobo. |

Wow!! Big disappointment in Enlight psu. Hooked up one from my test pc and everything ok. It is a relief to find out though.
Thanks Cricket! Some things never change and the fast, quality help at PCMechanic is still great! |

Hey Kubie,
Glad to see you found the problem...too bad it turned out to be the Enlight PSU, but it happens. Take care of yourself. Cricket

Well Cricket, all is not good.
After I got the out of box post, I finished the assembly. It fires up, fans all work, power to the combo drive, but there is no video now and of course, I can't tell if I have a KB or mouse. There was no beep on boot up. I guess I'll start taking it apart til I see what the problem is. If you or any body some other suggestions, I'm ready for 'em. |

Only thing I can think of is there may be a stray standoff somewhere under the motherboard.

Pull it back out of the box, hook up a keyboard, get it to POST and go into the bios. Change the ram timing to DDR266.
