PC Build Question

Ok, So I'm about to buy a new PC to build myself, and I was just wondering if someone could give my parts a quick once over to be sure they're all compatable. I'm pretty sure they are ... but wouldn't like to waste £400 if one part isn't going to work with the others

So without further ado ...

case http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=3PLN
harddrive http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=3PLN
cd http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=3PLN
1gb http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3HSZ
GFX http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=3PLN
processor http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=3PLN
Motherboard http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=3PLN

TOTAL COST : delivery
(16.828kg) £11.97
total £392.64

Thanks in advance ! <3

I wouldn't use that motherboard, it has a VIA chipset...Intel CPUs and VIA chipsets don't mix well (unstable performance). I'd get a ASUS motherboard that has a Intel chipset for better performance and stability.

And you'll want to get two sticks of RAM to enable Dual Channel DDR. And I think you're going to want PC2-4200 instead of PC2-3200 DDR2 RAM.

Would

http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...000,4294959071

be a better choice for motherboard (ASRock S775 Intel 945GZ MATX Audio Lan Graphics)

and would

http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx...1&v=2#infoarea

be a better choice for RAM (2 sticks of it , of course)

Don't get an AS Rock motherboard - you've improved on the chipset over your initial choice but lowered the quality of the manufacturer. Go for the ASUS + Intel combination.

Kingmax RAM is also low quality. I'd get Corsair Value Select RAM.

This is the only motherboard I can find that fits the requirement really:

http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...Quicklinx=41W8

Can you recommend it? And as for the RAM, this really isn't a top of the range PC :S So I'm not too bothered as to whether its top of the range. And as I'm buying it on a budget, something's got to lose out.

Thats a decent budget board. The only weak link now is the Kingmax ram - if it works you will be fine but it's not a quality brand.

On the left, hit QVL Download. This will list all compatible and tested ram for that board. I'd get it now and look at it but I'm getting a down for maintenance notice. Just because it's NOT on the list does NOT mean it won't work, but if it IS on the list you can be assured it will work as long as it's not defective.

You also might want to get a HD with 16MB cache instead of 8MB. But since it is a budget system, you should be fine with 8MB. I have 8MB on mine, and it works great and SATA is much faster than IDE.

This is not true. However, SATA is the way to go for various reasons.
