fqpissed Build working but false positives on corrupt downloads

Hi guys, this is a completely different build to the other issue I have posted (yes I have 2 going wrong at the same time ).

I am on the 2nd XP install with this one. With the first one the system was very unstable and kept giving me a brief flash of the BSD (possibly with the word "driver" somewhere near the top) before resetting itself. This appeared to happen fairly randomly.

With the 2nd and current install, I have had system instability only once, when it reset itself when I was trying to reinstall the chipset drivers from the mobo cd. The problem I am having now is that when I try to download various software (Media Player Classic and VLC are 2 examples), the system claims the files are corrupted, and will not accept that they are fine no matter how many times I pound the mouse clicking 'retry'. The sources are fine, and I have downloaded them 2 minutes later from my own pc just to check.

I also had issues when performing Microsoft Update, as various downloads or installs would fail, so I kept having to rerun it, although eventually the system accepted them.

Spec:

MOBO: Asus A8N-E
GFX: Asus EAX300SE-X TD 128Mb Radeon X300SE 128Mb PCI-E DVI-D/VGA
CPU: Athlon 3200+
RAM: 2x512 Kingston Value (tested and fine)
HDD: 200GB SATA (Seagate I think - don't have build with me atm but will do in the morning)
OS: Win XP Pro.

Thanks in advance for your kind help!

Do I see a common thread here - Kingston ram? Even though it tests good, I've had some issues with it. Also, what are you using for power supplies?
