splat Issues with new build

This is my second attempt at building my own computer. My first attempt went fine without any major issues. I'm having a more difficult time with my second attempt. I connected all the components and tried to boot up my new system. All the fans, case cooling, processor, and power supply started up fine but I can't get my system to boot up. My monitor just stays dark. I feel the hard drive spinning slightly but nothing seems to happen. I'm not sure where to start. I figured that I could boot up and get into the BIOS but I can't even get that far. The floppy drive doesn't appear to registering either upon booting the system.

Also, this is more trivial but still annyoying. Upon connecting the LED wires from my case to the motherboard, I can't get the Power LED light to stay on. My hard drive LED stays on the whole time. When I reverse the connection on the motherboard, the hard drive LED goes off but for the Power LED, it doesn't appear to be coming on no matter what I try. The two wires for the Power LED are separated by one hole. I had to move the wires next to each other to fit the configuration on my motherboard. It still hasn't fixed the Power LED issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Those are low quality motherboards and power supplies, by the way - and I've never heard of that ram brand.

When you say low quality, do you mean there have been repeated issues with these brands in the past? I purchased a ECS motherboard in the past and had no problems with it. What types of motherboard and power supply would you recommend without depleting my bank account?

Thanks,
Mark

Troubleshoot your existing parts first. ECS is low quality, in the sense that they have a high proportion of DOA motherboards - but if they work, they generally continue to work. The same can't be said for that power supply - even if its not DOA, it will be supplying your components with 'dirty' power.

Follow the steps in the thread GLC posted first. If your system doesn't boot when built out of the case in this way, you're looking at a faulty component.
