I have decided to build a PC. I'm going to do alot of reading before I even put together a parts list.
I have 1 simple tech question and 1 adivce question. 1. I have been an Intel boy always and I am willing to go AMD (based on stuff I've been reading). AMD and ATI have partnered up. If I build an AMD computer should I stick with an ATI GPU? or can I still consider SLI with a AMD chip? 2. what pitfalls should I watchout for when building a PC? Thanks

1. If you build an AMD system, you can go for either an ATI or Nvidia card. ATI and AMD have partnered up, but that partnership hasn't been around long enough for the two to develop and release anything together yet. In my opinion, both SLI and crossfire are over-hyped. I'd get a motherboard with a single PCI-Ex16 slot and buy the highest performing card you can.
All that said, the release of Intel's Core 2 Duo processors have eclipsed anything that AMD have to offer at the moment. AMD's new socket, AM2 is unstable, and their older socket - 939 - is being phased out. If you want to build a gaming computer, Intel is the way to go at the moment. 2. You could do a lot worse than reading through this thread http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=163758 FK
