I have an old computer that I've upgraded to include 2 250 gb hard drives. The machine is old and getting very slow. Even though I've added hard drives I don't know a lot about how PCs actually work, and would like to know if I could just buy a barebones PC and install these 2 drives in them and have it work.
Is there anything that needs to be adjusted to do this? |

You will probably just have to reinstall Windows.
Buying a barebones PC is not really advised, because they generally skimp on one or more components. It's better to pick and choose individual components. |

Would it be easier to replace the motherboard/chipset?
Does that require a Windows re-install?

If your computer is getting slow it's probably best to do a fresh install of Windows anyway. Your current install may be all messed up by viruses, spyware, corrupt files, etc...

Replacing the motherboard generally requires a repair reinstall too.
